Copyright & Licensing

Globenix Publisher is committed to transparent rights management. We utilize liberal open access licenses that maximize the reuse and discoverability of your research while ensuring you retain copyright.

1. Default License: CC BY 4.0

Unless explicitly stated otherwise on a specific journal page, all articles accepted for publication by Globenix Publisher are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license[cite: 351].

What this means:

  • Anyone may copy, redistribute, remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercially[cite: 352].
  • Users must give appropriate credit to the original authors, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made[cite: 353].
  • Text and Data Mining (TDM) activities are explicitly permitted under this license[cite: 344, 381].

2. Copyright Ownership & License to Publish (LTP)

Globenix Publisher operates on the principle that authors should retain full copyright of their work[cite: 341, 345]. We do not force authors to sign over their copyright[cite: 341].

Instead, after your manuscript is accepted, you will be asked to sign a License to Publish (LTP)[cite: 342, 346, 360]. This grants the publisher a non-exclusive right to:

  • Publish, reproduce, and distribute the article[cite: 361].
  • Register the DOI, deposit the article in indexing services, and carry out long-term preservation activities[cite: 362].

3. Self-Archiving & Preprints (Green OA)

We actively support author self-archiving to maximize accessibility[cite: 372]:

  • Preprints: Authors may post the original manuscript to recognized preprint servers (e.g., arXiv, SSRN) before submission[cite: 373]. Preprints do not count as prior publication, but must be declared upon submission[cite: 374].
  • Accepted Manuscript & VoR: Under the CC BY 4.0 license, authors may immediately deposit the peer-reviewed Accepted Manuscript or the final published Version of Record (VoR) into institutional or subject repositories without any embargo[cite: 375, 376]. Always include the article DOI and publisher citation[cite: 380].

4. Third-Party Material & Permissions

Authors must ensure they have necessary permissions for any material they did not create themselves (e.g., specific figures, extensive quotations, restricted datasets)[cite: 367]. Written permission must explicitly allow publication under the journal’s open access license[cite: 369].

Alternative Restrictive Licenses

In rare, justified cases (such as when third-party copyrighted material prevents full CC BY distribution), a more restrictive license (e.g., CC BY-NC) may be applied[cite: 357]. Authors should discuss this with the Editorial Office prior to finalizing licensing, as restrictive licenses may affect funder compliance[cite: 358, 359].

5. Sample License to Publish (LTP)

Upon acceptance, the corresponding author will be provided a form similar to the following to sign on behalf of all authors[cite: 360, 403]:

License to Publish

Article title: [Title]
Journal: [Journal Name]
Manuscript ID: [ID]

By signing this License to Publish, the corresponding author confirms they are authorized to sign on behalf of all authors[cite: 403].

Copyright: The Author(s) retain copyright in the Work[cite: 404].

License granted to Publisher: The Author(s) grant Globenix Publisher a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to publish, reproduce, distribute, and make the Work available in all forms and media, register a DOI, and deposit the Work in indexing/archiving services[cite: 404].

License to the public: The Work will be made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, unless otherwise agreed[cite: 405].

Warranties: The Author(s) warrant that the Work is original and that third-party material is used with permission[cite: 406].
