Open Access Policy — Globenix Publisher
- Policy overview
Globenix Publisher is committed to maximising the accessibility, reuse, and impact of research by publishing under an open access (OA) model. Our OA policy explains how articles are made openly available, the licences applied, author rights, repository and preprint practices, compliance with funder mandates, and protections to ensure editorial independence and equitable publishing.
Key principles: open availability of the scholarly record; transparent licensing; compliance with funder mandates; protection of editorial independence; equitable access through waivers/discounts.
- OA model(s) used
Globenix Publisher primarily publishes journals under a Gold Open Access model — the final published article (Version of Record) is made freely and permanently available on the journal website immediately on publication under a clear open licence.
Where a journal operates without APCs (diamond/platinum OA), this is clearly indicated on the journal’s homepage (labelled “No APC”).
APC-charging journals will always:
- Invoice only after acceptance (never as a condition of submission).
- Ensure APC decisions and waiver decisions are administered separately from editorial decisions. (See: APCs & Waiver Policy.)
- Default licence and author rights
Globenix Publisher’s default licence is Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) unless a journal states otherwise for a specific justified reason. Under CC BY 4.0:
- Anyone may copy, redistribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the work for any purpose, including commercially, provided appropriate credit is given to the original authors and a link to the licence is provided.
- Authors retain copyright and grant the Publisher a non-exclusive License to Publish for dissemination, DOI registration, and archiving.
If an alternative licence is necessary (e.g., limited third-party materials), this will be clearly displayed on the article landing page and in the article metadata.
- License to Publish (LTP) & post-acceptance steps
After acceptance authors will be asked to complete a short License to Publish (LTP) form that confirms:
- Acceptance of the article’s licence (default CC BY 4.0 or explicitly stated alternative).
- That the authors retain copyright while granting the Publisher the right to publish, register DOI(s), and deposit the article in repositories and archives.
The acceptance letter will describe the licence, APC (if applicable), waiver status, and any embargo or restrictions.
- Article Processing Charges (APCs) and waivers
- APCs (where applicable) are published transparently on each journal’s page and are charged only after acceptance.
- Waiver and discount policies are available in the APCs & Waiver Policy; waiver decisions are made independently of editorial processes to protect editorial independence.
(See: /editorial-governance/apcs-waiver-policy.)
- Preprints & prior dissemination
- Posting to recognized preprint servers (e.g., arXiv, SSRN, bioRxiv) before or during submission is permitted and does not count as prior publication.
- Authors must declare any preprint at submission and include a link. Editors will consider the preprint record but will evaluate the submission on its merits.
- Author self-archiving (Green OA)
Authors are permitted to deposit the following versions in institutional or subject repositories:
- Author’s accepted manuscript (post-peer-review, pre-typesetting): allowed for immediate deposit under the default CC BY model.
- Published Version of Record (VoR): may be shared per the article licence (CC BY allows immediate sharing of VoR).
- Authors should always include a citation to the VoR and DOI when depositing.
If a journal applies an alternative licence or an embargo (rare and clearly noted), the acceptance letter will state any restrictions and when repository deposit of the VoR or accepted manuscript is permitted.
- Embargoes & funder mandates
Globenix Publisher respects funder and institutional open access mandates. If a funder requires a specific licence (for example, CC BY) or deposit route, authors must notify the Editorial Office at acceptance and the Publisher will implement the required licence and metadata to support compliance.
Embargoes are not standard under our default CC BY policy; if an embargo is applied for a particular article or agreement it will be explicit, justified and communicated to authors.
- Metadata, machine-readability & discoverability
To ensure discoverability and to support indexing services, we publish comprehensive, machine-readable article metadata for every article, including:
- Author names and affiliations (and ORCID iDs where provided)
- Abstract and keywords
- Funding statements and grant numbers
- License URI (e.g., CC BY 4.0)
- DOI and Crossref metadata deposit
We also implement schema.org/Open Graph/Dublin Core metadata on article landing pages to facilitate harvesting by indexers and aggregators.
- Text & Data Mining (TDM)
Articles published under CC BY permit text and data mining without requiring additional permission. For articles under other licences or with third-party restrictions authors or users should contact the Publisher for permissions. Authors are encouraged to deposit data and code in appropriate repositories and to include a Data Availability Statement to facilitate TDM reproducibility.
- Repositories & preservation
Globenix Publisher supports long-term access by:
- Allowing repository deposit (see Green OA above).
- Depositing article metadata and DOIs with Crossref to support discovery.
- Participating in archiving/preservation services (CLOCKSS, Portico or equivalent) as described in our Indexing & Archiving policy.
Authors are encouraged to use recognized subject or institutional repositories and to include persistent identifiers (e.g., DOIs) for datasets.
- Third-party material & permissions
Authors must secure permission for third-party material when necessary and ensure permission covers open licensing and repository deposit where applicable. If permission for CC BY redistribution cannot be obtained, authors should notify the Editorial Office prior to acceptance so alternatives (e.g., a different licence or removal/replacement of the material) can be arranged.
- Compliance & monitoring
Globenix Publisher will:
- Publish clear OA and licensing statements on journal and article pages.
- Provide guidance to authors for funder compliance and repository deposition.
- Maintain records of licensing and APC/waiver statistics and publish summary transparency reports annually.
- Respond to queries about licensing, repository deposits, and permissions promptly via the Editorial Office.
- Author-facing sample OA statement (use in CVs, funder reports)

- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Will I lose copyright if I publish with Globenix Publisher?
A: No. Under the default policy authors retain copyright and grant the Publisher a non-exclusive License to Publish. The article is released under CC BY 4.0 (unless otherwise stated).
Q: Can I post my article on my personal website or institutional repository?
A: Yes. Under CC BY 4.0 you may share the VoR and accepted manuscript immediately, provided you include proper attribution and the DOI.
Q: What if my funder mandates a different licence?
A: Inform the Editorial Office at acceptance. We will work to implement a licence and metadata that comply with your funder’s requirements.
Q: Does open access affect editorial decisions?
A: No. Editorial decisions are based solely on scholarly merit. APCs, waivers, or funding are handled separately and do not influence peer review or acceptance.
Q: How do I request permission to reuse material?
A: For reuse beyond what the licence permits, contact permissions@globenixpublisher.com with details of the material and intended use.
